Good luck on your Air Conditioner purchases

Purchased based on independent online reviews stating it was one of the best models on the market as of Summer 2017. Ordered on July 22nd and received on July 28th. , it replaced a Haier HPC12XCR-LW originally bought at Wal-Mart in 2014 or 2015 (can't remember). Here are the differences I noticed between the two devices: Portability: The 122DS is larger and about 20 pounds heavier than the Haier, I had a hard time getting a delivered package from my porch to my apartment by myself. The wheels on the bottom must be well constructed though as I found it easier to hang without the carpet than the previous unit and so maneuvering out of the box wasn't a big deal. Noise: The Whynter block has almost no compressor noise (hum/gurgling) compared to the previous block, I can't hear it until I put my ear to the block. Since the fan noise doesn't change much, I feel like I can sleep comfortably with this device by setting the fan speed to low when needed in the bedroom. Installation. I'm not very handy, it took me about 2 hours to get ready and get started. The hoses were a bit bulky and I made the mistake of wrapping the exhaust in Reflectix DW1202504 Spiral Duct Wrap before attaching it to the window; I had to unfold everything to bend the hoses into position and rewind them. The PvP window kit felt a lot sturdier and thicker than the Haier window kit, but it was also a bit unyielding and painful when placed properly, especially when trying to tie two hoses in place of an old unit. Efficiency: My central air conditioner did and as such the portable air conditioner is currently the only source of cooling for my 750 sq ft. Feet installed in the living room. Here are some numbers from my rough observations (ambient roughly represents the temperature inside the apartment according to the old wall thermostat in the living room): Haier: outdoor 95F, ambient 82F, cool down to 79F after 5 hours. Outside 85F, ambient temperature 78F, cool down to 75F after 5 hours. Why: Outside temperature 85ยฐF, ambient temperature 78ยฐF, cooled to 69ยฐF after 5 hours. Outside 88F, ambient 79F, chilled to 71F in 5 hours. Outside 80F, ambient 77F, chilled to 72F in 3.5 hours. very convenient for me. I'm happy with the cooling performance of this unit and would highly recommend it if it's in the $425-$460 range. Additional Notes: Uses Frost King EPDM weatherseal around the bottom and side edges, the blue panel light will automatically turn off (no light on) after 10 seconds of panel interaction, the first time the remote is used, the main unit will reset (temp/fan ) is advertised as 12 EER but the yellow electricity consumption label that comes with the box says 11.1 EER, the online manual for this unit says large inlet hose and small outlet but instructions supplied with the unit give With a large drain hose and a small supply hose (like I installed), the control panel displays the desired cooling temperature (not the current room temperature) in cooling mode.
