Review on Yamaha NS SW100BL Powered Subwoofer Black by Kichiro Osamura ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not everything is so bad, but there are disadvantages.

For the money that they ask for it in 2022 - $ 200 (~ 15000r) there is a much more interesting device. This is SONY SA-CS9. Better in every aspect. Yes, and cheaper. I hope my review will help someone make a choice. Pros below: Qualitatively assembled. Case materials, joints, vinyl - everything is fine. Pleasant sound at medium volume (provided that you have an adjustable LFE crossover on the receiver with a cutoff frequency below 80Hz) Cons: No subwoofer controls other than volume. It is not possible to connect the subwoofer to any source (there are no in out terminals for wires). There is only LFE input. There is no adjustable cutoff frequency, no signal phase reversal, no auto on-off function when a signal is applied or absent from the source. The fabric grill is non-removable. At high volumes, increased distortion (SOI) and body overtones are clearly audible. Modest power (less than 40 watts)
