Excellent alternative to foam rubber. Much more effective for the back and shoulders than a lacrosse ball as it is hard enough to elicit a strengthening muscle response and soft enough to relax the muscle. The body responds better to this than a hard lacrosse ball, where the muscles tend to hold on a little harder. They have just the right balance of hardness and softness. Dog toys can easily be destroyed by my dog because they are too soft. Both of mine have teeth marks now, but they're still intact.
