I gave them 5 stars because the only fault was in the instructions, not the device. After reading the instructions I added 4 guarts of fluent thinking, that was enough because the instructions say 4 guarts. After servicing my truck with 4 standard liters and adding another 4 liters, I needed 8 liters of gear oil. The instructions should specify an additional 4 guarts.

Discreet saucepan. Worth the price. Has some weight. BUT the 47RE is NOT 4 liters more. It could be 1 sqm. It's not as smooth as in the photo. Very rough/rough surface. Strange drip filter adapter. I give this item 5 stars because it is a very well made piece. However, the description is misleading. The oil pan fits all transmissions listed and doubles the fluid capacity on all but the 48RE. This sump is the same depth and capacity as the 48RE factory sump commonly used on Cummins Dodge 2500/3500 diesel trucks. I had to level the sealing surface, a huge indentation formed on the counter surface. NO DAMAGE TO THE BOX AT ALL. Appears to have been delivered that way. Dismantled, installed and sealed. Would return but had a window of opportunity for transfer service and the hustle and bustle of my life. Therefore, it is necessary to save the plan whenever possible. The pan is well shaped, heavy and milled perfectly flat on the mounting surface. The drain plug thread was fine. I found the temperature sensor threads to be a bit loose and I had to clean them with a tap. Initially, there was a leak from the sensor port. After I cleaned the protectors and added more thread tape to the transfer unit, sealed it. I had no problem with the solenoid hitting the ribs at the bottom of the sump. Actually there is a slot in the inner fins where the solenoid is located.

Bought this pan for my Dodge 2500 Cummins '04 with box 48RE. I was a bit worried because the picture shows the chrome version and the part number is for cast aluminum. Bought for my 96 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L (46RE trans.) and it fits perfectly although Revane said it wouldn't fit my truck. Do your own research and visit the B&M website to see all the gears that fit this pan (of which there are quite a few).
