Review on Polycom Soundpoint Speakerphone Duplex Degree by Michael Cullen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Discontinued Polycom still works fine

These Lucent/Polycom Soundpoints work great. In general, much better than any speakerphone. I had to connect it to my AT&T Syn J SB67158 phone that I use at home. AT&T has a pretty good speakerphone, but sometimes people can't hear me very well. This is usually due to poor line conditions, or they are wearing headphones that muffle the sound, or the headphones are not properly adjusted. When this happens I turn on the Sound Point and the volume increases along with the clarity. The problem is that Sound Point is no longer in production and they only work on one line. Once a call is activated on the Sound Point, it cannot be sent back to Syn J. (I don't know if this is possible on other phones.) I have a 4-line phone, need to use line 1 and end the speakerphone call. All buttons that need to be pressed to make a call must be pressed before the call is sent to the Sound Point. After the speaker is turned on, keys pressed on the desktop device are not transmitted. Despite these small flaws, the voice quality of this speaker phone is so good that I use it exclusively. If Line 1 is a problem for you, you can get a built-in phone line switcher. They are cheap. Discontinued items must be purchased used. Make sure it comes with an AC adapter and that it has some sort of short warranty, say 30 to 90 days. The price from reputable sellers should be between $40 and $75 plus shipping. The price should be based on the warranty. PS In September this year I found a new one still in a sealed box. I paid $30 for it including shipping and taxes so you can find deals on it. Everyone I call says this speaker works great.
