Upgrade*** So I've used it a few more times and I'm still very happy with it! You should use smaller sections of hair and move slowly! I also keep the strand of hair taut as I pass it over the strand. Even if it takes longer, my hair doesn't smoke like straightening. The end result is soft hair that feels great. I just hope it continues to work well. So, my hair is currently in revolt. Breakage from heat and stains. I like my hair straight, but I have wavy/curly African American hair. I really wanted one of these steam irons but the reviews weren't great. I've tried these brush straighteners but they were never hot enough or close enough to my roots. It seemed different, so why not. First I turned the heat all the way up because I had a wide variety of hair and I wanted it to be straight. The only issue I struggled with was my finger constantly pressing the power button, so I'll just have to try and be more aware of that. For the roots, I put the "teeth" down and was surprised at how close they came. Along the length of the hair I made "carnations". After trial and error, I found that I had to make sure I was doing smaller sections and keeping my hair taut while doing the length. In general I was very satisfied. My hair was very soft and didn't feel overly hot like when I use a flat iron. I've only used this once so I'll update my review after trying again. As a side note, I did not receive this item for free. Every item I buy from Revain I make at the advertised price after reading many reviews. I always give my honest opinion to help other people make good decisions as I rely on other people's reviews when shopping and I don't like wasting my hard earned money.
