They are a bit large which is normal as they are likely to be worn over other layers of clothing. I downsized from XL to L and they fit like this. The main problem is that there is no way to protect them from falling. The belt has no elastic and only two Velcro fasteners at the waist. This gives you about an inch of adjustability. There are no belt loops, so it's almost impossible to attach. Otherwise they are durable, comfortable and waterproof, just like any breathable clothing. They're quite heavy, which speaks to their durability - they're work pants, not light hiking gear. I would give 5 stars if they had belt loops, drawstring, elastic or other means of waist attachment. I bought braces so include them in your budget when you buy them.
