They work great until they break.
I love these things but the plastic stick always breaks at the neck. This is my 3rd or 4th so far. I always try to have a spare with me. The plastic they're made of doesn't like heat. It will last longer if you wash it with cold or warm water. Other than that they do a fantastic job of keeping the siphon hygienic and the gap has always been the perfect size for a yeast cake. To be honest it would have easily given 5 stars and cost twice as much if they made them out of stainless steel.
