I just couldn't get these needles to work on both of my machines

I knew I would be sewing a lot during my "work from home" schedule, so I wanted to buy new needles for my sewing machine . I read the reviews and the price for what you get was great. I had an issue with a very late product and the seller was very prompt and polite. However, these needles just don't work for me. I have an old make car that is about 30 years old and a brand new car of another make that came out in this decade. I can't get these needles to work properly on any machine. I have them with the same upper and lower threads, I've tried different top and bobbin threads, I've changed the tension, I've adjusted the bobbin tension on the one that uses an adjustable bobbin case, I've tried different needles of every size in the pack and I keep having problems. I couldn't sew anything with these needles. I seriously thought that all needles are the same, no matter what brand, they all look the same. I don't have any fancy machines, nobody has an LCD screen, they basically do straight stitch and zig zag stitch, that's it, nothing fancy. As soon as I put needles of the brand I own in every machine, the problems stopped. I can't explain it but I've given up trying these needles and it's sad because I really thought they were perfect. I hesitate, them because of the trouble I was having with putting them in the donation box in the first place. I couldn't sew anything with these needles.
