Review on 8MILELAKE Valve Spring Compressor C-Clamp Tool Kit for Motorcycle, Car, ATV & Small Engine Repairs – Auto Compression Service Solution by Daniel Casper

Worked for my Subaru 2.5L, Rebuilt

Rebuilt my Subaru EJ25 '08 engine and used an 8milelake valve spring compressor with no problems. I tied the handle with twine (square knot) as it tended to fall out. Some complained about the main frame flexing during use, but I didn't have this problem. The only time I felt the crank was hard enough to turn to flex the frame was when I misaligned the valve stem with the spring washer during reassembly and everything got stuck. I applied some assembly lube I had. Hand on the threads and bearing surface of the spring adapter after the first valve, making the handle rotation smoother and easier. I also used a hard rubber mallet to tap the top of the valve springs before using the spring compressor to loosen the spring retainers before disassembly (an old mechanic's trick). This tool saved me about $200 in labor (which I paid for lapping the last set of heads and installing new valve cleaners), but I still spent $100 cleaning the heads and flat cover (safer than sorry for aluminum heads) ) .
