Nice and versatile cold weather gloves

I bought these gloves for the waterproof case to pack over gloves for emergencies but was impressed with the overall product. The photos show both the shell and liners and just the shells folded under approx weight 1lb. The liner gloves were heavy polyester and weighed at least 200. The finger holes were awesome because when I was driving over rough terrain or snow it felt like I had to remove shells every few hundred yards to drink, set up gear, someone something help, take a picture etc. It was easy to turn on with this setting and my normally cold hands didn't get cold as only the fingertips were exposed. With an extra thin football grip touch screen like inlay, it will offer even more protection. Some reviewers complained about the small magnets that need to hold the mitten finger and thumb cap. To me, they were both invisible and non-functional. You can see the magnet on the left in the photo, but if not, it's about the size of a coin and appears to be thinner. I never felt them when wearing the earplugs. They also don't work in the sense that they're nowhere near strong enough to actually hold the thumb or finger cap. While that would likely be an advantage, it didn't detract from the advantage of being able to pull your fingertips out of the liner. The only complaint is that the cuffs have two ugly velcro strips (see photo) that connect to a matching velcro strap in the shell to hold the balaclava so you can free your hand from all the work without pulling the balaclava too have to. The velcro isn't needed and will stick to things including your nose if you accidentally wipe it with the liner - I may remove it in the future. Although I haven't dunked the shell in a bucket of water, it appears to be waterproof and offers excellent wind protection. There is actually a thin permanent lining inside the shell, but it still looks very much like the shell. This thin liner limits the pack's compressibility, as shown in the compression photo. A 1 pound weight compresses two shells folded in half to about 2 inches thick. They can easily be compressed up to 1 inch between the hands and probably 1/2 inch when tightly packed in a backpack. Based on comments from several other reviewers, I have not noticed any sticking or significant movement of this thin permanent liner, and it stays in place when the removable liners are inserted and removed. The whole package is the warmest hand cover I've ever had. I snowshoeed all day in my teens and 20s in high winds and never had cold toes - including, as mentioned, frequent toe activity. Normally I would need hand warmers for this. They worked at zero for 30 minutes another day with no hand warmers, I have a heavy pair of Gortex gloves with thick liners and they would be cold in less than 15 minutes. , but not sloppy, medium, which is what I did for the mitten ant in cold weather. I suspect I could wear a small one, but then there wouldn't be any extra air insulation inside. This mitt accommodates an extra thin (but not medium sized) polyethylene insert.
