Review on APC PE6WU2 Wall Outlet Plug Extender: Surge Protector with USB Ports - 6 AC Multi Plug Outlet, 540 Joule Surge Protection by Jeff Dabney

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Definitely meets all my requirements.

I have seen some reviews of this unit and they were not very complimentary. I've had mine for about a year now and I love it. I've attached mine to an outlet with the included screw to keep it in place, but you also have the option of just plugging it in without a screw if you want to move it from room to room from time to time. a little further apart but they are still comfortable. I tested the USB ports with a USB load tester and found that they output about 5.1V to 3.1A, not 3.4A as advertised. It drops to around 4.35V at 3.4A. Not a problem for me but might be for some if you have high current USB devices. The only good thing about it is the small but visible green LED to show it's powered and protected. The absolutely nasty "Protected" markings on other APC devices in this line are just plain ridiculous, especially when they're in the room you're going to sleep in. I need a surge protector, not a night light. giggle
