This shelf is quite strong, but it is very difficult to install into an existing rack. The lug nuts protrude just enough to fit into the 19" rack posts. This means that to assemble, you must either remove the ears or turn them aside and then insert them. Unfortunately I already have my equipment. in working condition so it was not possible to turn it sideways. It wasn't scary removing the nuts, the head worked for 8, but putting it back on is a whole different story. That means I had to move my hardware around U-space before I could access the screws. .Apart from my horrible history with installation, this is a solid shelf. I would consider it in a new rack, but I wouldn't use any other for an existing rack.
