I tested it with my old Cambridge Audio Azur 540p phono stage (no features, around $100) and the DJPREII phono stage (transistor, around 66 $) compared. The DJPREII and Cambridge Audio units sounded fine (and the DJPREII has a nice gain control with a bi-color LED to detect clipping), but this little Douk Audio phono stage sounds fantastic with upgraded Riverstone Audio tubes (I have standard tubes too). tried it and sounded good). Really good separation and detail with a wide soundstage. Very important. I hope it lasts! I could do without the blue LEDs, but that doesn't really matter. The rest of my system consists of a U-Turn Orbit turntable with an upgraded Ortofon cartridge, Now Hear This bookshelf speakers, a 10" powered subwoofer and a vintage Marantz receiver.
