Needs many improvements; Tech Support bust

The software for this unit was difficult to set up and was written for Windows 95. The device will NOT get an IP address over a LAN connection, even if configured manually. a device for displaying the time in a format other than 24 hours. But the software displays the 12-hour format. Firmware updates are NOT available to end users, only to authorized resellers. The company gave no other response than denying our download request. It makes absolutely no sense. For example, the sum of the hours can show us 39.20. That's 39 hours and 20 minutes, NOT 39.2 hours. We have to manually convert minutes to hours, which again makes no sense to us. The device is very slow when connected to a serial cable. Update 4/8/14 The device suddenly stopped communicating. The software on one computer suddenly started displaying error messages with no warning that it was compiled with a different version of Fox Pro (something built into the program) and displays a help button. Clicking the help button does nothing. Posted a new version of the firmware in tech support (finally found someone). Apparently, when you submit a request for help through the site, it goes through Malaysia first. The "update" was the same installed version and was very difficult to download onto the machine. We were told that the firmware will not be made available to end users as end users might mess things up. Let's be clear that the ONLY reason we want this product is to track employee time. We don't need anything unusual to export to payroll. We don't need to create high-tech reports. We just need to be able to connect to it and see the total hours worked per week by employees. And even that is difficult to do.
