Probably not the best laptop for an active user

Let me explain the use case: my partner uses the laptop for writing, sheet music, searching the web, listening to music and sometimes movies, fairly light applications. However, they use it 6-8 hours a day, ride it on public transport, travel with it and use it at home, so intensively in that sense. We were hoping a cheaper laptop would work as their requirements were minimal. Unfortunately, the thing fell out of the packaging. Problems starting Internet Explorer. A partially closed screen put the laptop in a black screen state where it was on, but the screen didn't come back, resulting in a forced restart. It was light and he was running, but it became clear that every little thing would slow down and start the fight. For a machine that works 8 hours a day, this will not work. We sent it back and got a cheap surface book instead. Well that says it's a specific use case. The laptop works (maybe not as well as advertised, certainly not as well as some of the rave reviews suggest) and costs $200. If you don't mind that it's slow and doesn't require you to put in a lot of hard work, this might work for you. But this is my review based on this use case, I hope it will be helpful.
