Perfect introduction for beginners!

For the money, this is a great starter kit for those wanting to learn leatherworking with minimal investment. Most of the tools work well, are as described and are really helpful. All too often these kits come with a bunch of cheap "useless tools" that serve no purpose - that's not the case. In fact, some tools aren't all that different from those found in Tandy Leather and elsewhere. Most tools are easy to use, sharp and ready to use. There is a helpful card listing all the tools (a more detailed explanation of how to use them would be helpful). Some tools such as B. Abrasive tools may be more difficult for beginners, but they are complex tools nonetheless. (Some people have complained about a grinding tool, but I attribute it to engineering.) That being said, this set isn't perfect either. The "hole punch" in particular is useless. Instead of a traditional hole punch with replaceable "bits" that you hit with a hammer, it has some sort of twist mechanism (very similar to a "Yanke screwdriver" or twist drill). He's not good at making holes. then the sewing has to be done with either this punching tool or an awl which isn't really made for it. You can also use sharp chisel-tipped leather needles, but that's difficult for a beginner too, but it's also a matter of preference. You can either purchase the 30-piece set, which includes the staplers instead, or purchase them separately. However, this kit (and I suspect others in the line) is a pretty good start for beginners.
