Extension works well, as do individual switches on sockets. There is good tactile and audible feedback as each switch is pressed. The switches feel pretty cheap as they wobble a bit and sometimes get stuck in the depressed position. Luckily, a firmer squeeze on the stuck switches has freed them so far. As mentioned in another review, the power LED above the USB ports dims. This makes the ports visible in the dark. Ironically, Revain asked me to rate portability. At the time of purchase, there was no indication that this product was intended for ultra-portable devices. The product image sufficiently shows what you should expect in terms of size. No built-in cord storage for on the go. The cord is stiffer than power cords - what you'd expect from a budget microwave, not the ultra-flexible cord of an Apple Computer power supply. If I were to buy again, I'd probably go with the Rosewill power strip flip switch design (but it doesn't have USB ports) rather than this product's push in/out switches.
