When I downsized after my husband died about a year and a half ago, my daughter bought a large tray from vm . I use a large clumping litter so I scoop out the clumps and as the litter goes down I add more litter. The only thing I noticed is the powdery residue from my old litter clinging to the bottom and I would try to scrape it off as my current litter doesn't and is completely odorless. Now I only have one cat and I take out the garbage every night. I chose a new bowl and a heavier litter because it clumps better and the lighter formula is good but not as good. I went through all the trays and settled on this "giant" tray. When I went to change boxes, my daughter noticed that the box was slightly smaller than the one she bought me when I moved here a year and a half ago. I was a little surprised because it advertises itself as a GIANT! I like the long sides that are taller and it feels like I'm the one spilling the trash on the floor when I pick up the trash at night. One of the two ends is slightly lower, which I think is good for small cats or kittens.
