This grinder sounded great on paper but after a few weeks of use I'm returning it for another one. It seems that the Black & Deckers design team and their engineering team were so proud of themselves and the fact that they made 4 grinders in 1 that they completely forgot to test it. Because after unpacking, defects were found that any test would show. The grinding properties of the disc grinder are quite good. I didn't use it as a fine sander because you have to use Black & Decker velcro mouse paper and they're expensive. I foolishly assumed the finishing tip would have clips like everything else on the planet and you could use regular sandpaper with it to keep the cost down and use higher grit paper if you wanted to. Not correct. However, this is not the biggest disadvantage of this mouse, the dust collector is useless. By the time I finished sanding down the TV stand, my garage was covered in a thick layer of dust, even with the front and rear doors open for ventilation. On the other hand, there was about a tablespoon in the trash can. Now if it was a huge media center manned all day I would understand the amount of dust everywhere. But that's not the case. In addition, I should have had more dust in the collector, maybe even had to clean it. Another problem with the dust collector is that the connector is not round. That means you can't connect it to a vacuum cleaner to pick up dust. And after all that, I don't think B&D tested the grip part because it's practically useless. The top of the grinder is angled slightly towards the handle, making it easy to operate with an on/off switch between the thumb and forefinger of the dominant hand. To use two hands, one over the grinder and the other on your arm, you either have to put your dominant hand on the grip or throttle the main unit to the point where your hands touch, which becomes very uncomfortable. There is a solution if you don't need a grinder. Buy 2 sanders and a random orbit sander, there are decent choices for less money that work just as well and pick up a lot more dust. And then buy a fine sander, make sure it has clamps for regular sandpaper. I know you think it's going to be more expensive and at first you're right. However, if you buy regular sandpaper and not the one designed for that particular sander, you'll save a lot of money. Be sure to check any of the grinders you can buy for a vacuum that plugs into the vacuum in case it refuses to pick up dust as well.
