FULLY SOLVED P0449 ON AVALANCHE VIN 3 2008 - SAVE ME $$$

You've no doubt read all the other reviews Take a chance to order and install this. I'm a true novice to auto repair and was able to do it for a Chevy Silverado or other truck with all the instructions and some really good YouTube videos. That. If you're worried about whether these things will fit in your car, do like me and visit the ACDELCO website. It's bulky and they don't seem to sell anything directly, but it will tell you which parts are right for your vehicle. For about $55 I bought the seat belt and this part, I saved the difference for an "easy fix" of $260. what my dealer said. Although it took me 2 hours in the cold as a beginner (did most of this review and re-review right, got to know the underside of my truck and came to the realization that I would actually be much better off dropping a tire and out out of the way), but actually it's very simple, and given the tools and experience the traders have, it's a crime that they charge so much. What's also criminal is that any parts store nearby costs less than $10 compared to the dealers who charge $160 for those parts. Let's see, that's triple the parts markup plus another $100 the dealer wanted for 15 minutes of work. Now, don't get me wrong, my friends who are mechanics. I know there's a lot of payoff and consider the cost the shop incurs compared to what they earn, but considering I just gave the dealer 1700 for another very expensive repair, I feel right to say that they could shorten my break. In the end, I'm just glad I got rid of the engine code, cleaned up my emissions control system, and saved some money. honestly thought it would be worse, and once you get the outlet the right size (remember it's metric) and in the right place, it's not that bad. The hardest part for me was unplugging the hose from what I think people call the "coal box" that's a little further forward. This thing is in a difficult position for big hands. I recommend checking out the new part and seeing how the part release button works so you know where to press when you finally get your frozen Fred Flintstone fingers in there. It doesn't pop right out, so beginners like me should understand that you can gently but firmly remove it. Once you press that button properly, it's pretty easy to take it off. Another tip I'd like to add is to pay attention to where that pipe is coming from, where the canister joins the charcoal box. I wasn't sure where to put it when I put it back on. Once I found the spot it was obvious that I had placed it in the right spot as the pipe is pre-curved to overcome any obstacles that might get in its way. Hope that helps. As a beginner I'd say it's a bit more difficult than changing the air filter but definitely doable as you don't have to disassemble anything. Be careful when tightening those zip ties and don't pull on anything because if you're like me you don't know what the heck that is.
