10 AWG Aluminum - Audio Cable

TLDR: 10 AWG copper clad aluminum and aluminum wire. The sound is suitable for home cinema but not recommended for concerts or events. To the guy who said it wasn't a 10 gauge comparison of 2 wires by eye, it was just plain wrong. Lol My wire strippers don't lie. In terms of quality, 10 AWG is more than sufficient for my 8-16 ohm theater speakers. I really should have gone for a 12 or 14 gauge because it was overkill and I realized my receiver only fits 12 gauge. I tested it with GoT and Bluray movies. I used to use 22AWG wire and in some scenes the volume would be cranked up to the point where it was annoying. Now I can hear a wide spectrum as if I were on stage. My disappointment was realizing it was all aluminum. That's my lack of care. I may have to replace the wire 5 years later after it has oxidized too much. FYI, a little science for you. Contact with atmospheric oxygen causes deterioration of the outer surface of the wire. This process is called oxidation. Aluminum wire oxidizes more easily than copper wire and the resulting compound, aluminum oxide, is less conductive than copper oxide. Copper has a lower resistivity than aluminum, meaning you'll have more signal loss with aluminum than with copper.

Pros
  • Use: Home or Car
Cons

Now sound doesn't turn off when I want to watch Hoarding: Buried Alive.
