Great bang for the buck.

I used a $10 boar brush, several different badger brushes in the $40-$100 range, and a few plastics in the $25-$100 range. Each brush has its advantages and disadvantages. I haven't found a brush that has a hall yet. Possibly badgers for $300 and up, but at this point I don't plan on throwing that kind of money to find out. In the sub-$50 range, the synthetic products I've tried offer the best value. At less than $20 it cost to ship this brush to my door, this brush is one of the best value brushes I have come across. The tips are soft and feel great on the face. However, the waves are still strong enough to create a massaging effect that lifts my mustache and coats it in foam. Most synthetic materials appear to have a good balance of properties. People complain that synthetic materials don't absorb as much water as natural hair. It's probably true. The counterpoint, however, is that synthetic materials shed the water they absorb more easily. I think this whole discussion misses the point. The real question is how well the brush creates moist yet creamy and firm lather. This brush, like most synthetic brushes I've tried, creates great lather very easily. Admittedly, this brush isn't as good as some of my other more expensive brushes. The most notable difference is that the fibers just aren't as densely packed. However, this does not detract from my 5-star rating. I don't think this brush tries to offer everything that a more expensive brush does. Instead I see that this brush tries to offer as much as possible for its price. In summary, I think this brush offers great value for the price, apart from the fact that it doesn't use any animal products, which may or may not be well-made. The ruthless element of this brush is just gravy for a brush that already has a lot of value.
