I assembled the lamp tonight. As others have pointed out, the dimmer doesn't work (yes I used the right bulb), it only has a first click of darkness, then two clicks of the same brightness illuminating a dark corner of the room, so worth it for me choosing to keep it instead of worrying about repacking and shipping it back. I haven't found a low enough wattage bulb in my house for a reading light yet, so I'll have to make a trip to the store before evaluating it, but I have no reason to believe it won't turn on. Assembling the lamp was a simple and easy one-man job that didn't require any tools, so it's convenient. He's pretty muddy. It doesn't take long to knock this flimsy lamp over, but since it's in a room where there are no children or pets, I can live with it. If you like the look (I'm personally considering all white now that I have it in my room, but it's not terrible) and aren't expecting much, there really is a soft light and that's all I need. required by the lamp.
