I've tried several cheap devices with cheap results. This one is overpriced but works every time I use it. I am an avid gardener with 3 acres of diverse plantings. Using other devices and guesses failed. With this device I saved many times its cost by simply and accurately knowing the soil moisture. An example is I have a 20 foot Butterfly Maple in full sun. It turns out that it absorbs a large amount of water. What I thought was 12% on other gauges was actually 5% on this one. Adding emitters to bring it to 12% saved the tree $750 and a lot of work.
