In progress.

I built a fairly large fenced area using 1/8 inch stainless steel cable and mahogany wood. The fence has turned out fantastic and has become quite economical compared to other types of fences. It's not quite finished yet and I've learned a lot in the process. For example, these turnbuckles get tightened, so if you're not careful you can bend a mahogany 4x4 in half. The top and bottom of the posts are secured fairly well, but the middle will flex as much as the wood can flex, and if you've used a recurve bow you know it will flex a lot. So be careful with that. I'm leaving mine pretty loose until I find a solution that eliminates the crease in the middle of the panels, which is pretty much useless for kids to use when they can bend the cable enough that they can still slip through. So. Another thing I found helpful was doing all the prep work before installing it on anything by connecting the turnbuckle and thimble with pliers beforehand. Then when installing, install an eyelet wire strap that doesn't attach to the turnbuckle, install a thimble when you screw the strap on, rather than attaching them with pliers after the fact. Also, stainless steel is probably not the best material as the magnet will stick to anything fairly easily, but I hope it's good enough for my purposes. A couple of turnbuckles broke when tightening and loosening when I realized I was about to break my post in half. They cross the strands fairly easily with a lot of pressure, but I'd say 2 out of 100 is a pretty good chance. Very cheap compared to almost every cable gland I've found online and I think I only ordered 100 or 120 and they didn't cut me a single item. The cord cutters worked great too and it was nice to have extras when you were looking a bit dull. I first bought a hydraulic crimping tool sold by Muzata to install them but found my father-in-law's non-hydraulic crimping tool for ferrules very easy. and it's easy to make and you can buy it at a tractor store for $40.

Pros
  • Industrial style. We took inspiration from old factories and created this aesthetic industrial interior design system. The Muzata WoodLoft cable railing system blends perfectly with aged wood, exposed brick, industrial lighting and concrete.
Cons
  • Not bad
