Review on πŸ”§ Precision Variable Telescopic Working Tool by Mophorn by Adam Johnson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Very difficult to set up and it requires a lot of tweaking.

First off, not a single part on this lathe was properly tightened and nothing was square or centered when found. If your belt goes bad (it will), they don't sell a replacement. I had to buy all new gears with a new belt for one to work. You'll spend your first 20 hours adjusting, milling, tightening, etc. on this lathe, only to have everything pop out of angle or back on center the next time you turn it on. The tailstock is a real junk, I have to re-center it every time I use it (or move it at all). The tool holder should be exchanged immediately, I would simply order a new one in the same order. My first five projects consisted of replacing crappy plastic parts on the lathe itself, most of them breaking before I replaced them. I installed this lathe for about 9 months and today I made another spare. For 2 hours of assembly I spend 1:30 fighting the machine and 30:30 working on my part. I've made as many lathe repair parts as I've made actual projects. Overall I would have a hard time suggesting anyone buy this. If you want ALL the precision, spend more money. If you are an amateur, you will have to work hard with this machine. In all of this, I shot a few details that turned out very well. However, I am already planning to purchase another lathe.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • something different
