Review on 6 Feet Silverback 12 AWG Speaker Wire - High Strand Count with Banana Plugs by Chad Judex

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great cables!

I've bought five of these so far: two for each of my main Biamp speakers, one for the center channel. My main speakers are B&W CM8S2 and I prefer bi-amping. Since copper is a thin strand, these cables are very easy to handle and do not kink. They wrap properly in loops rather than tightly coiled like cheap cords, allowing you to straighten or bend the wire. This is 12 gauge wire, so it's a lot larger than what most people are used to hearing about speaker wire. It's probably more than what's really needed, but it's what I like. I want to get the most out of my wonderful speakers, and using a larger caliber should minimize signal loss or degradation, even if the signal only travels six feet for me. Bananas fit my speakers and receiver snugly, they're not very long. Shell, and I like the look of bananas and cables (see my photo). As others have pointed out, they are not soldered or connected in any way other than a screw securing the cable to the banana plug. It doesn't bother me - in fact I like it because I can more easily repair or replace plugs if needed. The outer sheath is screwed over the banana and cable and unscrewed for about half of the cables during transport. If this happens, just screw them on. Ready! These are my new favorite speaker cables. I only wish Sewell would sell wire in spools shorter than 200 feet. If so I would buy some to have on hand. Maybe I'll call her anyway and beg her! buy cable. If you're an audiophile-in-training they'll give you great sound and make you feel good connecting your system with a high-performance cable that people will look at and exclaim as a "sacred cow"!
