This gives you an off-axis center stand, allowing you to tilt the camera to almost any angle. The construction isn't world class or anything, but it's solid and surprisingly light. It easily held my Canon 6d with a 100mm L macro lens and a 90ex flash on a Benro carbon fiber tripod. This makes ground shots and macro photography much easier. It can be easily screwed on and my Benro ball head is attached quickly and easily. The only complaint I have is that the tension adjuster at the base of the pan arm is difficult to manipulate and difficult to turn to tighten to prevent the tilt arm from panning on a tripod. At first I had to use pliers to move it but I feel the handle is getting easier to use but still not very good. The build quality is also why I ditch the sprocket. I expect one of the hinges or links will wear out over time making it harder to snap into place, but I'm sure it will last a while. For $60 this is a really nice swingarm to add to any tripod you have. So far this is a pretty good tripod with legs that can be tilted far enough to keep it from tipping over if your camera is tilted too far.
