Despite the description and packaging saying 24" will fit center beams, I don't recommend it. When the bar is fully extended to 24 inches, it sags significantly. After tightening and starting to install the fan, it sagged from the ceiling. I had to abort the installation and didn't even have the fan blades installed. Only the weight of the engine pulled him down. Now I have to go to the attic and reinforce it with a 2x4 grid, which completely defeats the purpose of this bracket. If you have 24 inch center beams, I recommend finding a longer, structurally stronger brace, or just do a two by four and be done with it.
