I bought this to mount a ceiling fan on a 2" narrow aluminum beam in my screen room. After looking for a way to mount a fan that was visually acceptable, I stumbled across this article. I was a little skeptical but it was exactly what I needed. The screws provided hold the box very securely and it's a very sturdy mount for the outdoor ceiling fan I've attached to it. I love that the wiring can be routed from the top or either side. There is plenty of room on the side of the box for wiring and the flat round side of the box has a very low profile so the fan is very close to the beam , as opposed to a side mount. a metal box that probably wouldn't pass the "wife test". I use a wire form across the top and it works fine. I will paint the bracket and wire form to match the dark bronze color of the screen supports and beam. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone looking for a cleat side mount for a joist or stud. In hindsight I would like to paint it first before installing it. :-)
