I bought this toilet to fit in my converted Sprinter squad vehicle in the middle of the night. While out and about I was very pleased to see that it worked efficiently and I waited to write this review until I had tested it in combat, including emptying the black tank: - This toilet does NOT smell. I finally decided to see what it was like to use it for solid waste (see, that's what you really want to know about). I have used it in this function several times and emptied the black water tank after a few days. As I emptied the black water tank, I choked on the smell several times (hell! - literally). Which is real testament to how well this toilet works and yes I put chemicals in it. Single-ply septic tank-safe toilet paper seems like the best option, so while it may not be luxurious, it will work better. in the system. Due to the gag mentioned above, I *really* recommend not using this for solid waste unless your sense of smell is severely impaired and you don't care (or you just love to gag, we all have our stuff). - If you must use it for solid waste, consider emptying it as soon as possible. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and I hope you are too. PS - every once in a while you'll see a review on this toilet stating that it's leaking or the gaskets aren't quite right. Be smart like me and run water through the system and shake it to make sure it's waterproof. So you can replace it with an unused one if you receive an imperfect one.
