Review on 🌸 Create Stunning Large Pointed Petal Flowers with CLOVER Kanzashi Flower Maker by Denise Davis

Works well but uses a lot more fabric than expected

I'm working on a quilt that needs something three dimensional. The quilting pattern looked like a yo-yo, so I decided to buy a Clover yo-yo maker. This item was suggested and the flowers are gorgeous so I thought it would add even more interest to my quilt. While the yo-yo takes a circle and turns it into a pretty decoration, this tool requires one square of fabric per petal, which equals 5-6 squares to make a flower. It was harder to shape into the right petals than I expected, but I got them in the end. I don't like the raw edges of this flower when it's done, the yo-yo is wrapped so that it does not fall off. Overall I like the tool and it does what it's supposed to, but I think I can get the same effect from a traditional yo-yo with a lot less fabric and effort. This tool also wastes thread. The final amount of thread required to gather and tie the petals into a flower is minimal, but you will need a significant amount of thread on the needle to make very large basting stitches. I'm also having trouble with the top stitching on each petal - the thread just won't go into that slot. It will likely be one of those tools that sits in a drawer and is rarely touched.
