These little glasses holders are very cool. To need? Probably no. But really stylish and functional? Yes. The flat bottom is a separate part from the main part of the mug. They're held together by internal magnets on both and the magnets are pretty strong so the bottom won't fall off the mug when you hold the mug up. The inside of the mug is completely covered with white fluff and I think the glasses fit well inside. We ordered two different prints for children's bedside tables. I needed a central place to put their glasses down at night or when not in use, rather than placing them all over the place, especially in places where they could sit or step on them! The kids love the designs (they are really beautiful in real life) and think they would make a great addition to their bedside table. While they are suitable for children's glasses, they are large enough to accommodate adult glasses. Only time will tell how they hold up. I'll bet those sweet white wisps are going to get a little crappy over the years, but for now at least they've helped this mom's sanity a little. ;-)
