My suggestion to the manufacturer would be to have interlocking tunnel doors like PetSafe so customers don't

Walking through the dog door every year I was impressed with this one. I watched the installation video before buying and figured it wouldn't be that hard as my husband is a builder and can build anything. In short, it was a nightmare. If you buy this plan you will spend at least 4 hours building it (and that's with the hole already cut in the wall). We couldn't line up the tunnel door with the outside wall because the fingers didn't line up after we cut them. Because the threaded rods that go from side to side are made of soft metal, they are all bent, making it impossible for them to fit through the small hole. Instead we cut them from the side of the small stud since the hole they went in was larger. We thought it worked, but self-locking bolts flew out of the frame. Eventually the bolts broke off. After 4 hours and a lot of frustration, my husband just built the frame into the wall and we screwed the doors to it. I wish we had done that right from the start. At this point we don't have everything ready as we still have to emboss it. Here are my suggestions: Before you cut the sides of the tunnel, slip them over your top/bottom toes and then measure where you need to cut. Don't even bother with the threaded rods, just screw them into the frame if possible. My suggestion to the manufacturer would be to have interlocking tunnel doors like PetSafe so customers don't have to cut the metal frame.
