I have been using Van Aken Plastalina to make jigs and molds for many years. A comment from new users is that these clays are often too dry and not pliable. Plasticine and Fimo often need conditioning before use, as they harden during storage. Plasticine, in particular, can be cut into strips and placed in a warm oven to soften (the packaging specifically says "melts at about 150 degrees Fahrenheit"). And like polymer clay, if it's too dry, you can add a few drops of unscented baby oil (or ready-made clay softener) and knead it. Voila - good working sound again.
