A few years ago I bought a voltage converter at a truck stop because I needed to plug things into a real 60Hz 120V outlet. Currently anything I need to charge in the car can either be charged into a 12V cigarette lighter socket, the USB socket that comes with it, or charged on the dash with the solar panel on. I used to live in Connecticut and every winter we had a power outage for a day or two when the snow blew away the power lines and that would come in handy for... well, like I said, everything I need to plug into the outlets available charging and the need to convert DC to AC is old fashioned. However, it works as advertised. All sockets on the front of the device are immediately available when it is plugged into the car's cigarette lighter. There's even a screen that shows how much power is available when you're using it. If the device actually has overcharge protection (hard for me to verify) and doesn't overheat or short circuit...great! These were things I couldn't figure out how to test, so time will tell. I. Will post updates if there are any problems. But honestly, once I put this in my emergency kit I don't expect to see it again. But if I need it...
