This magnet is as strong as advertised, if not stronger. I've had it for several months now. I use it in a metal cabinet in my office at work that doesn't have hooks or shelves inside to hang my purse and make better use of the space. My purse easily weighs 5 pounds on any given day. In fact, he often weighs closer to 10 pounds. This magnet easily sticks to a thin metal wall. I actually had to clean the surface of the wall to get rid of the dust as the wallet magnet would slide along the wall if there was dust between the wall and the magnet. I'm deducting a star because the green metal hook and disc that attaches to the large magnet broke off the magnet after 6 weeks of almost daily use. I just glued it back onto the magnet but was disappointed that the hook didn't attach better to the magnet. I've previously tried the heavy duty Command hook which was rated at 10 pounds. The adhesive on the hook peeled off the inside wall of the cabinet within hours, even after following all the installation instructions for the letter 't'. This magnet is strong and stands up to the task of hanging my heavy bag over my shoulder in my locker. I am satisfied, especially after a long search for a sufficiently strong hook.
