Great kit for beginners

This is the first resin test. I've wanted to do this for a long time, but have never tried it. I chose this set because it offers so many possibilities. If you don't mix anything into the resin, it will turn clear as it dries. Do you have paints, stir sticks, measuring cups etc. I bought the molds separately to test. My kids and I mixed up a few batches of different colors to test in a pyramid dish. It turned out a bunch of medium-sized pyramids. I wanted to see how transparent they would be so I could try to seal the decorations inside. Clear is see through and looks great. Colors are good too, but clearly not clear. They are beautifully colored. Mix 1:1 for epoxy resin and hardener. Light. I mixed them together in a large jar of paint before pouring for at least 5 minutes. Just stir gently and try to avoid bubbles. The first one had tiny bubbles but it was just a test so I didn't care. The rest had a few small blisters on the surface, but they were polished out. I use fine sandpaper to clean the surface to make it look very smooth and shiny. The instructions say to do this in a well-ventilated area, but I live in a very small house so I decided to do it outside. I took a plastic cake topper and covered the entire tray with it. I propped up one side of the tray myself so the fumes would come out. Nothing got too hot but I'm glad I did it outside. I left it outside for 2 days to make sure it was fully cured. Tips: wear gloves. Measure each liquid separately before mixing. Add any color or glitter you use. Small things have a big impact. Stir slowly! Stir for about 5 minutes at a time. Serious. Pour carefully into the mold and let dry without touching. Do not move forms after filling them out. Use extra fine sandpaper to polish the surface and give it a smooth and shiny look.
