I live in an old house with many needs. Sewerage is not in the best condition, problems with roots and debris continue. While it's not a perfect sewer pole, it does the job and I'm very happy with it. You disentangle it from its base and then just download it until you run into problems. Using the included handle, move it back and forth until it advances. The length is pretty fantastic as most rods are 25ft which is not long enough in most systems. You need to feed along the way, this is a long and laborious process. I can't lay out the rod and had to unwind it on the go which took a lot of work to make it effective. Second, rewinding can be painful after use. The rod can fight with you and get tangled, which includes hooking your fingers when you're not looking (not that that's happened to me or anything, honestly. No way. Okay, it happened. ). But I highly recommend it. If you have so much work to do on your system that you're considering renting a device, this is a great money-saving option.
