My first major project as a homeowner was building a double shade box fence that was about 800 pickets long. There were two screws for each rail per picket fence for a total of 3,200 screws, so I wanted to keep costs down. I was glad I spent the extra money to use screws that didn't leave an ugly black rust streak on my new picket. I recently received this set of screws from Grindy as a gift. That's pretty much everything I've been looking for in a deck screw: a self-tapping point, a sharp thread in the middle, a polished shank in the other half, and then a torx head to drive it in with my impact wrench. Even if the price irritates me a bit. For a large project, I'd have to run back to my colleagues at Home Depot with anti-corrosion coating for a third of the cost. Grindies are beautiful but too rich for my projects. I will save this set for a special project.
