I've been wanting to try these as everyone is switching to them, dropping Deans/T-Plugs because they're easier to solder and easier to grab with your hands. I was not disappointed. For soldering I just connected the plugs and sockets together and just soldered the wire connections. The reason I paired a male with a female is simple. Plastic can be loosened by heat. In this case, the connectors can move. Holding them together allows the plastic to cool and stay aligned. This was not always the case with Deans/Tees. They have to get very hot just to solder them. Plastic has always melted. Not so with the Xt60 connector. I haven't seen any evidence of the plastic overheating as it doesn't take that long to heat up. The extra dimensions of the Xt60 make them much easier to separate compared to decans/tees.
