I like this mat very much. It was just the thing for breaking young foals who hadn't developed shoulder muscles yet. I like the quality and it seems to be holding up very well after 3 months of daily use. There is no pain in the shoulder area. We use a medium wide 18 inch saddle, the width is perfect and gives me about 4 inches under the skirt on either side, but I would like to order it a little longer from pommel to pommel, but it still gives me a little less. extra inch on both ends.
