Great for Dog Guards in Gates and Gate Extensions
When your dogs can't jump over and get between the bars, this gate will hold them from both sides. My basset hounds leaned on it, bumped and tripped on it and one even tried to ram it (and found it was useless) so I doubt a child too small to operate a latch would could handle it. Over time, the hold-open feature no longer worked on its own, but placing a dog mat underneath allowed enough friction to keep this mechanism functional, while still allowing the gate to close automatically when the feature was not activated.
