Review on ⌚️ Pebble Time Round 14mm Smartwatch - Silver/Stone – for Apple and Android Devices by Marc Gallner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easily integrates into your life. The lack of a touchscreen is a plus, not a disadvantage.

Update 2: 09/01/2016: I still love it. Bought for my mom, she loves it. The new Snowy app essentially turns this into a watch with a voice prompt when you step on it. There are basic commands pre-installed, and people with a little technical know-how can use them with IFTTT to do pretty much anything. I can say "Turn on my phone" and then the next "Find my phone" command actually works. Update 1: I've had this for a week (11/14/15): Let's face it, if you're considering this watch, it's probably because of the size. I'm attaching more photos to show the size and visual impact of this thing. It's thinner and sleeker than the Timex Weekender (sorry for the nasty stripe on it!). The visible screen is almost exactly a quarter in size. These watches are just fantastic. So light and unobtrusive, you'll never know it's "smart". This is an organic complement to a smartphone, not a fancy computer. Thoughts: 1. For better or for worse, the world fundamentally expects everyone to be reachable via text message at all times. I'm a teacher and I don't check my phone during class. It's disrespectful to students. With this watch, I can get emergency messages from the principal or find out if the phone in the office is ringing. I can also control my music, google slides, powerpoint, keynote and computer video players. I can quickly check the calendar on my watch. I can call an Uber I can see when the city bus arrives. I can't answer calls by speaking, but I can control them with BT headphones. The voice recognition is great and makes it quick and easy to reply to texts when I don't want to take my phone with me. I think smartwatches are perfect for classes or any job that requires you to be in a main area but move around and talk to people. 2. What good is a watch if you can't use it as a watch? My Android Wear watch was so hard to see that I had to turn up the brightness and protect it from the sun. This watch is always on and easy to see in the sun. A simple flick of the wrist turns on the backlight when you're in the dark. The attached photo has not been modified.3. I tried Asus ZenWatch and Moto360 and returned. Both just weren't that reliable. They were like a printer: most of the time they worked, and when they didn't, I couldn't understand why and I just had to restart. On the Pebble, the OS and Bluetooth are really reliable; I've never had to reset this watch or the Time Steel I've owned for a while. Pebble doesn't turn off, act weird, or waste time when you walk away from your phone. You won't get notifications until you're back in range, but you won't lose the ability to see the time, use the stopwatch, etc.4. Cons compared to other smartwatches: The battery life is (only!) two days, still twice as long as Android Wear, but it charges in 15 minutes, so I charge it when I'm washing dishes or in the shower. It's only "splashproof", not waterproof, so we'll see what happens.5. They don't have a touchscreen, which some people don't like, but that's the watch's biggest selling point in my opinion. With my other AndroidWear stuff, I've always been tapping and swiping on this stamp-sized device. Thanks to the buttons, YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOOK AT IT to stop the timer, pause the music, etc. You can just lean over and press the button. Seriously, no touchscreen is the best option. I also have a Time Steel which is fully waterproof (you can swim in it) and lasts 8-10 days on a single charge. I like this watch too, but it's more like a device. photo below. The Round just looks like a nifty little Swatch. love love love
