I installed it on an existing pole about 25 feet from my driveway. I was amazed that his default settings seemed to work perfectly. As the instructions say, you need to press and hold the power for 2 seconds and you will hear two beeps when you turn it on for the first time. The only issue I had was having to remove the unit from the mounting bracket to bolt it to the post and I temporarily lost a small nut in the grass needed to reassemble it. Luckily I found it and then we tested everything. It seems to forget the selected tune on the indoor unit when the power goes out, but I only tested this once (maybe it needed to be charged or something). I am happy!
