Review on Alpinestars Touring Balaclava Motorcycle Accessories by David Dreher

Currently happy with this balaclava

After looking at many balaclavas and reading various reviews I decided that this is the one I went for. I have been impressed with a pair of their motorcycle boots and cold weather socks and know they are an established gear manufacturer. One of the problems that many other brands had with their balaclavas was the lack of full neck coverage, both in the front and especially the back. This product has a good length and twice the thickness of the "skirt" if you want, and protects the neck area well from the wind. In this neck area, the inner layer is made of softer fleece. In this cold weather I wear a full kit and this balaclava fits perfectly under my textile jacket and full face helmet. A motorcycle balaclava cannot be very warm due to thickness limitations. You'll never wear your helmet comfortably, or you'll end up with a larger helmet just for the occasion, which is a waste of money. This product does what it's designed to do: block the wind very well, keep you warm and look pretty cool. I had some comments that I looked "like a movie killer" wearing this with my all black outfit and black sports bike. Whatever you want to look like, go with it. It costs a little more money IMO. My only concern is that the nosepiece cap may move a bit during use, but that's to be expected with my heavy helmet. Oh, but the good news is that the eye hole is huge and doesn't restrict your vision, which I can't say about some of the other balaclavas I've seen. I'll update if I find any issues in the future, but so be it. He also showed himself well at 30-40 degrees at night on the motorway for more than half an hour.
