Review on Fluval Telescopic Shrimp Net: Optimal Tool for Catching and Handling Shrimp by Molly Carlson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ideal for salt/fresh water tanks!

EXCELLENT NETWORK! I have bought many of these for my aquarium hobby over the past few years, both freshwater and marine. FRESHWATER: I have used this regularly for my freshwater shrimp tanks. Specifically, I've kept Crystal Red Shrimp (CRS), Fire Red Shrimp, and Blue Bolts. This is the perfect size for catching those small ornamental shrimp. They were very helpful when the shrimp were being farmed and the babies were everywhere. I have found these nets to be small enough to catch even the smallest of babies. SALTWATER: I used them in my reef tank for a completely different reason. I actually used it to weight my frozen Mysis shrimp. I hate excessive dirt in frozen foods, so I regularly strain frozen mysis before adding them to my aquarium. All that extra dirt leads to more phosphate, which equates to more phosphate. I found that the holes were small enough to hold most good Mysis bits, but any other debris would be washed away. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for straining frozen food to get rid of anything you don't want floating in your aquarium. GENERAL CONSTRUCTION: Pretty good although the telescopic aspect was a little weak. It should be noted that when using it in a brine tank I noticed that after a few months the telescoping part of the net became more difficult to disassemble. Maybe because of the salt? But in view of the perfect mesh size and holes, I still give 5 stars. The price is fair too.
