Review on 🏠 The Ultimate Storage Solution: StoreYourBoard Ladder Ceiling Storage Garage by Stephen Johnson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good idea very poor execution

I give the design 5 stars but it is very poorly made and of poor quality hence I only give 2 stars. low quality makes this thing dangerous. No wonder there are videos of things falling off this thing. Here are the issues I found and how I fixed them. The included anchor bolts are too short 1 (about 1.5 inches) and will only fit if you mount them directly to a joist. If you have drywall or drywall, you will need longer anchor bolts. I have a plaster ceiling 1 inch thick. in my garage which would give me 1/2 inch wood joist bedding. I used 4" Spax PoweLag screws, which are self-drilling. I had to enlarge the hole in the bracket a bit to fit the screws. Throw away the anchor bolts that came with it and get better ones. 2. The square brackets on which the strap that attaches have sharp edges that cut through cheap straps. I used a thin metal file to smooth the edges of the staples where the strap rests so it doesn't cut through the straps. Sandpaper can also work. Just set it up sure the box mount has smooth rounded edges before you attach the straps to it.3.Straps are cheap and especially the buckle. The friction buckle on the straps is so bad that I can pull the strap out just by using my Pull hand on it.The description says the straps are heavy duty nylon, I'll take their word for it, but they look more like polypropylene to me.I have compared it to a real high performance nylon strap and it didn't look like it at all. I used a pair of genuine heavy duty NYLON ratchet straps (1" wide) and cut them to length. Discard the straps provided and use a pair of ratchet straps instead. 4. Cheap rope. I used the rope that came with the kit .but it tends to twist and seems very cheap compared to the high quality rope that came with my Floaterhoist bike lift (1/4" Solid Derby Rope). I will also replace the rope. Do at least the first three things described above and everything should be great.
