Great monitor! (with a recoverable error)

This is a fantastic monitor for the price! And frankly, it's competitive with monitors that cost twice as much. VA panels are often overlooked simply because VA has a bad reputation. I don't know where that came from, but the cliche that IPS is needed is mostly wrong. IPS offers the best color accuracy, but if you're not into photography/videography that requires perfect color reproduction, VA is fine. Colors are bright and accurate, and viewing angles are good. As long as you're not playing at a 70-degree angle to the front of the screen, you'll never have a problem. Also, monitor preference is very subjective. While some people prefer the faster IPS tech (which can mean less ghosting), many others (myself included) care more about VA's superior contrast ratios. First, I haven't had to deal with ghosting issues on my display yet. But other than that, this VA has literally four times better contrast than the average IPS. I've played IPS for many years and always hated how each black turned into a greyish speck. Now I can see different levels of darkness in every detail. Night levels in games are now available and fun! So for half the price you get a 144Hz 1440p monitor that rivals the $500 IPS options. This is not a problem. To top it off, the packaging is great. When I opened it I wasn't concerned at all about possible damage. And it has no dead pixels. The only downside I have to mention is the G-Sync compatibility. This monitor is not on Nvidia's official monitor compatibility list. However, when you go into the Nvidia control panel to set it up, it says the monitor is indeed compatible. G-Sync works well and I was amazed at the smooth, oily feel I got even at well under 100 frames. And here's the downside. There seems to be a strange but recurring bug if you have this monitor and an Nvidia 1000 series GPU. IF and ONLY IF you enable g-sync and your frames drop below 100, the screen will randomly go blank for a second before going back to normal. I found a reviewer who discussed this issue and he found that it persists on several of these monitors and when using different cables. https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-cq27g2u-cq27g2/ This doesn't happen if you stay above 100 fps. It happens rarely (once an hour) between 100-80 fps. And it happens more frequently (every 20-30 minutes) below 80 fps. The time doesn't match, these are just my rough estimates based on usage. If you turn off G-Sync, nothing happens. It has also been reported that this issue does not occur if you have a 2000 series GPU. To be honest, I still leave them on most of the time because I'm willing to lose the display for a second or two every hour for it. buttery smooth the rest of the time. However, it is disappointing that the problem even exists.
